The Academic Startup Network (ASM) is the result of years of experience gained through the successful implementation of the "Take the Idea" project activities in the academic environment. The network focuses on university faculty members, viewing them as key actors not only in generating new knowledge but also in translating that knowledge into innovative solutions and successful businesses. The core component of the ASM will be the creation of a structured multidisciplinary mentoring support system for startups and innovations, aimed at unlocking the market potential of intellectual resources from universities. Additionally, the Academic Startup Network aims to create an environment for a multidisciplinary working system that provides opportunities for collaboration and joint development of new market values for faculty members, students, and researchers from various disciplines. Through blockchain, smart contracts, and decentralized applications, you will learn how this technology can enhance the management of real-world assets (RWA), from finance to logistics and energy. As a practical example, a case study in the energy sector will be presented, demonstrating how web3 brings innovations in energy trading, resource optimization, and renewable sources.

Behind every great product are many small, incremental changes driven by iterative testing. Validation is a crucial part of the product management process and one of the most decisive factors in a product's success, but it is also one of the most commonly overlooked aspects. We will present to the workshop participants the product development journey with a focus on digital products, tools, processes, and best practices related to validation, and through practical examples, illustrate the most common mistakes that lead to poor market acceptance of products.

Join us for a panel that challenges the perception of AI as just another buzzword, showcasing it instead as a suite of practical technologies already in action and primed for significant impact. We will explore how AI can transform industries like healthcare, education, transportation, and finance, driving smarter, more efficient, and personalized services but also what are the obstacles to AI adoption, including technical, cultural, and organizational barriers. We will then dive into the regulatory implications for various industries and the new AI regulations being considered in Serbia, highlighting how these laws and regulation of AI in general can impact the development of AI-based solutions. According to the Serbian startup scanner analyses, local ecosystem continues to grow at a high speed, which is visible not only in the increase in the share of young startup teams that are still in the earliest stages of development, but also in the increase in the number of founders under 30 years old. The number of people are working in the domestic startup ecosystem at the beginning of 2024 is almost double than two years ago. That is a reason for optimism for all actors in the innovation ecosystem and the belief that knowledge and innovation are the right path for Serbias further development.

The lecture "Beyond LLM" reveals what comes after large language models (LLMs) and how technology is evolving beyond current limitations. The focus will be on innovations that go beyond standard LLM applications, including advanced AI models and new methods that enable deeper understanding, more precise data processing, and broader applications in the industry.

Dune Analytics is a platform for analyzing and visualizing data from blockchain networks. It is widely used in the cryptocurrency and decentralized finance (DeFi) communities to track various metrics, trends, and insights from blockchain data. In this workshop we will create custom queries using SQL to extract specific information from blockchain transactions, and then visualize this data through charts and dashboards.

This fireside chat will illuminate the journey of a company that started by developing software solutions for clients and, with the help of artificial intelligence, transformed its business to begin developing its own products. The focus will be on how companies can identify opportunities in their clients' challenges, leverage AI technologies for innovation, and through this process create products that open doors to new business models and spin-off companies. They are results of significant progress and innovation in science but also brought up by joint effort of multidisciplinary approach of relevant stakeholders in science, business and regulation. The presentation will give a glance overview of Why is so challengeable to develop a biotech medicine? Why don’t we have tablets instead of injections of biotech?

How do traditional industries align with the expectations of the upcoming generation of young professionals? How can they meet the increasing demands for flexibility and remain attractive employers in today’s world? Igor Prišić, an attorney with decades of experience, embraces change and has been working to enhance the efficiency of young lawyers and attorneys through the use of new technologies, helping them make the legal profession more dynamic.

The panel titled "Not All Mentors Shine – Changing the Paradigm of Mentorship with Startups" provides an opportunity for mentors, startup teams, and support organizations to enhance their approaches to collaboration. It will help startup mentors work more effectively with teams, assist startup teams in setting appropriate expectations for their mentors, and enable support organizations to improve the performance of their programs. For 10 years, the goal of ICT Hub and many other organizations has been to encourage technological entrepreneurship and create startups that will transform and innovate traditional industries. A key factor in this process is the founder with domain expertise, who is willing to "step outside the system" and start their own story. Have we succeeded? Have we done enough to bring technological entrepreneurship closer to experts as an option? Have we created a support system for safe experimentation? Have we done enough to break the taboo around failure as a potential outcome?

Although Bitcoin has been declared dead numerous times, somehow it always manages to "come back to life." Marko Matanović, CEO and co-owner of ECD.rs, has counted 478 of these "deaths" so far and continues to count. Marko will reveal what predictions have been made about cryptocurrencies, how accurate or inaccurate they were, and how the crypto market has managed to exceed all expectations at this year’s SPLET conference.

The MiCA regulation has been a focus in the web3 industry for years, and there still seem to be numerous dilemmas regarding the application of certain provisions. Nevertheless, the full implementation of this regulation begins at the end of 2024. In addition, preparation is needed for DAC8, a directive that governs data exchange between tax authorities in the European Union. On the panel, W3PL will present an analysis of these two regulations and discuss their impact on Serbian legislation.

This presentation focuses on the journey from idea to securing funding, showing how entrepreneurs can build successful startups by owning their unique story. By bringing Silicon Valley concepts to Serbia, it provides simple, practical steps for navigating the fundraising process, dealing with failure, and pitching to investors.
